How to solve the problem? You either change the port you are using for your FTP or disable the modem/routers' FTP. But it's not what you've been trying to do, it has nothing to do with proftpd. Try putting the username and psswd you use to configure your modem/router and you'll probably be able to login. In that case you will see you are connected but your login will always fail.
